LAMDA is the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.
For many years LAMDA has offered a program of exams in a variety of skills relating to the skills of theatre.
Below is an age/grade guide, though this is not definitive. However, experience suggests that students should not sit Grade 8 until they are at least 16. This is because of the nature of the pieces at Grade 6, 7 and 8, which require a level of sophistication and maturity and an emotional range that even the very best young performer cannot have per level at a younger age than that. In addition to that, there is a high level of comprehension and even intellectual challenge attached to the Knowledge element at the higher grades where it is necessary to be able to analyse and process rather than simply presenting information learnt by rote.
The prices mentioned are those for 2019. As soon as the new ones are available we’ll update the schedule for 2020.
